Irvine, CA

Hi everyone…I’m in Irvine, CA. I flew in yesterday from Chicago. I’m staying with our friends Glenn, Susan, Eric, Jillian, and LeLe who moved here a year ago from Batavia. It’s been an awesome visit with them. Besides seeing all of them and being surprised at how much the kids have grown, I also went to church with them last night at Saddleback Church. Saddleback is one of the largest churches in the U.S. with 30,000 members. Rick Warren preached last night, he’s the senior pastor of the church who is also the best-selling author of “Purpose Driven Life.” It was quite inspirational as he spoke about the need to Use It or Lose It. What God has graced us with should be used and not wasted or lost.

Today I’ll be driving to Santa Clarita, which is north of Los Angeles, to visit my Aunt Mollie, cousin Bev, and her son Jim. I’m really looking forward to spending a couple of days with them. It’s great being back in Southern California…the last visit was in 1972 when I was much younger.
‘Til later—Diane

  1. Dear Steve and Diane,
I just got back from Wellesley, MA — the first of my two 45th HS reunions of the summer. I was proud that I navigated Boston with my bags, and had little trouble with the water taxi, the subway lines, and the commuter train, hitting three museums and getting back to school in time for a fabulous weekend. Diane, when you described the trip as reconnecting, I feel the same way on a smaller scale. What fun to spend time with friends from the past. Steve, I can’t imagine hauling everything up and down mountains in all sorts of weather for months on a bike… How great to be able to vicariously enjoy?? your ride. I’ll check in with the Savages to hear about that visit. Love, Ann p.s. And remember, be careful out there!
